WWII Veteran celebrates 101 years

TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW) -- Friends and family came together to celebrate one of the oldest living WWII Veterans.

Art Haug turned 101 Sunday. He was celebrated with with gifts and cake from close loved ones during a small birthday party.

The veteran was also honored by American Legion Post 225 on his special day.

"He is the past commander of an American Legion chapter that's in Ozawkie, KS. And they decided to come and present him with a plaque, an appreciation plaque, for all he did for them when he was a commander at that post," his son Randy Haug explained.

Haug's family and friends said they were happy to help him celebrate another year.
