TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) The Kansas Children's Discovery Center partnered with Hill's Pet Nutrition to offer kids a unique learning opportunity Saturday.
The event was called "Veterinarian Play Day" and lasted from 11 am to 3 pm.
Children had the opportunity to bring their very own stuffed animal friends to get a check up by a real veterinarian.
The veterinarian in attendance was Amy Hanson from Potwin Pet Clinic in Topeka.
The children were also able to assist the veterinarian and learn about pet care basics.
Hanson says, "Having them experience the joy of being able to care for an animal and the responsibility of caring for an animal, is always a great thing.”
Some children in attendance were eager to learn because they wanted to be a veterinarian too when they grow up.
Leighton Mueheler said, “I want to take care of every animal that is sick. Like dogs and cats and like all the animals."
Laura Burton, Marketing Director of Kansas Children's Discovery Center, says the hope is that the event will continue to inspire young kids to pursue science careers.
