Undergraduate students from various colleges across Kansas got a chance to show off their talents at the Capitol.

Wednesday is Undergraduate Research Day, and students working on their Bachelor's Degrees had the chance to highlight their innovative research and show Kansas lawmakers the benefit of higher education.

The students showed what they can do in terms of research and what information they can contribute.

The research projects from various students and schools varied.

"We have research, not only from the hard sciences, but from the arts and the humanities. We have cancer research exhibited here today, we have a wonderful art project about the cicada," said Anita Cortez, the Director of Undergraduate Research at Kansas State University.

Each student worked with a faculty mentor and created a report to go along with their project.
