MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Manhattan-Ogden school district is warning about a couple of out-of-state companies it says are calling local businesses and soliciting "financial scholarships" of Manhattan High School apparel.

According to a post on the USD 383 Facebook page, representatives from Sportsmedia/Texas and Riddell All American Sports/CA tell the businesses they are working with the school or its coaches. In the latest version, they have claimed to be working with the Cheer team's coach and asking for money.

The school district says it has no arrangement with either company.

It is asking anyone who gets contacted by or who has given money to either company to reach out to the Riley Co. Police Dept. at 785-537-2112.

The district adds if a business is contacted about supporting an event or activity at the school and would like to verify if the call is legitimate, they can reach out to MHS Athletic Director Mike Marsh, at 785-587-2100, or Communications Director Michele Jones, at 785-587-2000.
