Two die in Franklin Co. wreck Wednesday morning

FRANKLIN CO., Kan. (WIBW) Two people are dead after a Wednesday morning crash outside of Ottawa.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the accident happened about 8 miles east of Ottawa just after 7 a.m.

According to the KHP Crash Log, James Tracy, 67, of Rantoul was driving a Volkswagon Passat eastbound when he lost control and hit a steel guard rail.

Officials say the car then veered into the westbound lane and was hit by an oncoming Ford Explorer on the passenger side.

Tracy, and his 14-year-old passenger, Harry Mock, also of Rantoul, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Explorer, a 40-year-old woman from Paola was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuries.
