Two buildings damaged in early Sunday morning fire

The Topeka Fire Department responded to a fire at 1104 SW Western Ave just after 4:15 a.m. Sunday.

Crews saw flames coming from the first and second stories of the building.

As they worked to put out the fire, damage was done to a home just south of the fire due to the heavy flames.

The fire was extinguished, but both homes including the one at 1108 SW Western Ave., suffered significant water and fire damage.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported.

According to the Fire Investigation Unit the cause of the fire was ruled undetermined pending further investigation.

The structural damage is estimated at $62,000. Contents loss is estimated at $15,000.

Working smoking detectors were not found inside the home of the fire.
