EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) A semi driver has been cited for careless driving after trying to pull a 13-foot trailer under a bridge with just over 12-and-a-half feet of clearance.
KVOE Radio reports the incident happened Tuesday morning at the Mechanic Street underpass in Emporia.
They say the road was closed into the early afternoon after the impact peeled the front quarter of the trailer's roof off and caved in the refrigerator unit.
The radio station says there was no visual damage to the bridge.
The driver's name has not been released. They were hauling frozen chicken.
They were cited for careless driving and leaving a truck route.
