Toxicology report shows officer involved shooting victim had drugs in system

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Shawnee Co. Coroner’s report on a driver killed an trooper-involved shooting in November shows the driver had traces of drugs in his system.

The toxicology report for Jarmane Logan found amphetamine, methamphetamine and THC in his system.

His cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the torso.

A Topeka police officer and Kansas Highway Patrol trooper had stopped Chelsee Retana and Misty Maspero on Grant Street.

An SUV driven by Logan sped toward the officers nearly hitting them.

One women tried to get into Logan's vehicle briefly dragging the trooper, who fired a shot as he fell to the ground.

The SUV then sped off. Retana was arrested about two weeks after the incident. Maspero turned herself in two days after the shooting.
