Topeka spends the night clearing main streets, will decide later on residential ones

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) --- The City of Topeka says crews were up all night treating city streets and kept going through Thursday morning.

Private street crews joined City workers spreading salt onto primary and secondary roads, the City explains. They expect the ice to start melting as the salt is ground into the surface - and with a little help from sun.

Officials are re-assessing all road conditions, including those on residential streets. They will then decide whether or not to treat those side roads as the weather and street conditions change.

The City says they will provide an update on the situation later in the day.
