Topeka man's body found in Perry Lake

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says it found a Topeka man's body early Saturday morning in Perry Lake.

The body has been identified as 46-year-old Jeff Miller, of Topeka, who went missing Friday evening.

The Sheriff said around 5:45 p.m. the Kansas Wildlife and Parks was called to the Longview area of Perry Lake for a missing boater. The missing boater, identified as Miller, was last seen around 3:30 p.m. Friday on his 26 foot sailboat.

The Kansas Wildlife and Parks and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers searched until about midnight Friday and began again Saturday morning around 6:30. About one hour later Miller's body was found in the water west of Longview Park.

Kansas Wildlife and Parks is working the boat accident along with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The accident and possible drowning is under investigation.
