Topeka man sentenced for Osage Co. vehicle break-ins

LYNDON, Kan. (WIBW) -- One of the two Topeka men accused of breaking into dozens of vehicle break-ins has been sentenced after reaching a deal with Osage Co. prosecutors.

According to the Osage Co. Attorney's Office, Trivette Alvarado was sentenced to 41 months in jail after pleading guilty to one count of vehicle burglary and another count of vehicle burglary with the attempt to steal a firearm. He was also give two years probation and ordered to pay restitution.

In October 2018, Alvarado and Aaron Griffith were arrested on dozens of counts of vehicle burglary and theft, the Osage Co. Sheriff's Office said. Investigators say all of the counts stem from 29 vehicle burglaries that happened in Scranton, Carbondale, and Overbrook.

Griffith is still awaiting trial, prosecutors say.

Osage Co. Attorney Jack Hobbs reminded drivers to lock their vehicles and keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
