One subject is in custody following a violation of a lifetime stalking order.

Charles Adkins, 50, of Topeka, is facing a felony charge.

Just before 3:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, a deputy observed a truck in the 5500 block of SW Lincolnshire Circle that possibly belonged to an individual with a lifetime stalking order in effect.

The protected party in the stalking order is a resident in the area.

The vehicle quickly left the area and, due to the dense fog, the deputy was unable to pursue the driver.

Another deputy, however, was able to locate the vehicle a short time later entering I-70 from SW Wanamaker Rd.

A traffic stop was conducted near SW 6th and Rock Garden Drive.

The driver, Charles Adkins, was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections for felony violation of a stalking order, traffic infractions, and felony probation violation.

The incident is still under investigation.
