A Topeka man is now convicted of killing a Lawrence man in a remote area near Perry Lake a year ago.

It took a jury just over two hours Wednesday to find Jonathan Blevins, 23, 'guilty' of first-degree murder.

He will be sentenced April 18th.

Jefferson County authorities found Taylor Sawyer's body March 14, 2018 at an abandoned campground - along the old military trail.

Authorities say he was fatally shot during an argument the night before.

Authorities say Sawyer was dating the mother of Blevins' girlfriend, Ashlym Hemmerling.

She'll be arraigned on a first degree charge March 21st.

Her mother, Sarah Hemmerling, was initially arrested for obstruction, but the charge was dismissed.
