TOPEKA (WIBW)-- An 18 year-old accused of "accidentally" shooting his girlfriend has a trial date set.

Auston Mcneely is charged in the death of Ashley Usher.

The court found probable cause for McNeely to stand trial on four charges, reckless murder, interference with a law enforcement officer, theft of a firearm and criminal use of weapons.

His trial is set for June 29th.

Topeka Police were called to the 2200 block of SE Ohio Street on reports of drive-by shooting.

When they arrived they found Usher suffering from a gunshot wound. Usher told first responders that McNeely had accidentally shot her.

She was transported an area hospital where she died during surgery. McNeely told authorities he was trying to show Usher how to work the safety when he accidentally pulled the trigger.
