TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Dare to lead is the theme the 2019 Kansas Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities.

23 young leaders are taking part in this week's 19th annual event. Thursday's highlight was a luncheon emceed by 13's Shawn Wheat-- where attendees met with mentors and recognized outstanding achievements.

Organizers hope to encourage delegates to step outside their comfort zone and make a difference in their communities.

"They can be proud of who they are as a person with a disability and hopefully we want them to embrace all of who they are and use that to be a contributing member of society," Program Coordinator Carrie Greenwood said.

Other activities during the week include a fair, barbecue, talent show, and dance!
