TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Those living in Topeka can expect to see more officers on the streets next week.

Starting Monday, Topeka Police are taking part in the annual Click It or Ticket campaign, which runs through June 3rd.

“We hope that people always wear their seat belt, but unfortunately we
know that is not always the case,” said Topeka Police Chief Bill Cochran.

TPD says officers can stop vehicles and issue tickets when they see anyone riding without a seat belt.

At least 180 other law enforcement agencies are making sure drivers and passengers are wearing their seat belts.

“This campaign should serve as a reminder to buckle up every time you get into a vehicle, whether you are the driver or the passenger,” Cochran added.

The campaign is funded from a grant by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
