TPD: 29-year-old died from self-inflicted gunshot wound

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Topeka Police Dept. released the name of the 29-year-old man killed in a Thursday evening shooting that also left a woman badly injured.

Marshall W. Hille died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, investigators say. They did not release the name of the 25-year-old woman who was also shot. She remains in the hospital in serious condition.

According to the Topeka Police Dept., officers responded around 6 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 3900 block of SW Atwood Terrace.

Hille was dead by the time emergency crews arrived, police say.

UPDATE: An original version of this story identified the man killed as 19-year-old Marshall Hillie, based on Topeka Police reports. They have updated it to 29-year-old Marshall Hille. The story has been updated to reflect the changes.
