TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Local kids are learning important lessons about public transportation from Topeka Metro bus drivers themselves!

The Children's Discovery Center Thursday invited bus drivers to read to children as part of "The Pigeon Comes to Topeka: A Mo Willems Exhibit." They read "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus," written by Mo Willems, who the exhibit is inspired by.

It was also a chance for the kids to learn about transportation in Topeka.

"It's important for kids to know about public transportation, know what's available in our community, know about best practices, best safety, so they'll have the opportunity to get on and off the bus," said Dene Mosier, the Executive Director of the Discovery Center. "They'll be able to ask those bus drivers questions about their job and what they do."

The exhibit is open until January 4th. It is included in a regular admission ticket.
