MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Three teenagers are accused of breaking into Robbins Motors in Manhattan, and stealing three vehicles worth more than $150,000.
Co-owner Clay Robbins said the teens broke a window on the service shop's garage door sometime overnight Wednesday into Thursday. He says they walked in and snatched vehicle keys from desks. They then took two 2018 Jeep Rubicons and a 2019 Dodge Ram from the lot.
Authorities say the trio took the jeeps on a joy ride before dumping them off in a nearby apartment complex. RCPD recovered all three vehicles Thursday morning.
Robbins said it could've been worse.
“In the morning, I was pretty mad because one of the Jeeps they stole was one of my personal ones that I actually drive, so I wasn’t very happy about that," he said. "But I was glad they didn’t touch anything in the showroom because we have a sports car, we’ve got some expensive stuff on the showroom that you know would’ve been a lot worse.”
Two teens were released from the Juvenile Detention center pending court hearings. The third teen remained in custody as of Thursday afternoon.
