TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Thousands of Westar customers were without power in north Topeka.

According to the company's outage map, over 2,300 of its customers were left in the dark early Wednesday afternoon. The outage mostly affected those living and working in the area between the Kansas River and U.S. 24.

It was first reported minutes after noon and, according to the outage map, it was restored to nearly all customers by 1:45 p.m.

While the electricity was out, Westar trucks could be seen at a transformer site in the area with workings trying to get the power back on.
