HOUSTON, Tex. (KPRC) -- It's a dream come true for a six-year-old girl who is battling cancer.

Abigail Arias has been fighting the disease for two years. Despite that struggle, Abigail says she still wanted to become a police officer.

On Thursday, the Freeport Police Dept. made that dream come true by making her an honorary officer.

"It means lots of excitement and lots of love," Abigail said.

After the ceremony, she showed off her uniform, her badge, and her handcuffs.

"In my 27 years, this will be the best thing ever for my career, and it should be for everyone here," Freeport Police Chief Ray Garivey said. "It's more than just putting bad guys in jail."
