LINN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Linn teenager was killed early Thursday afternoon after the SUV she was driving went off a Washington Co. highway and rolled several times.

According to the Washington Co. Sheriff's Office, Nathalia Gonzalez-Sanchez was heading north on Highway K-9 when her 2003 Jeep Liberty left the road just south of 9th Road. The 16-year-old overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle.

The Jeep crossed the highway and went into the ditch where it overturned. Both Gonzalez-Sanchez and her 17-year-old passenger, Maddison Mills, of Washington, Kansas, were thrown from the vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

Both teens were rushed to Washington Co. Hospital and then flown via Life Star to KU Hospital, in Kansas City, where Gonzalez-Sanchez later died, the Sheriff's Office said, adding that Mills remains in critical condition.

Investigators say neither of them were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
