TPD releases name of shooting victim found at I-70 interchange Tuesday

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Topeka Police Dept. has released the name of the 43-year-old man who was badly injured in a shooting Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say Elijio Gonzalez was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after officers found him in a car at the I-70 and Rice Rd. interchange.

According to police, they spotted the car minutes after officers in the area near the 800 block of SE Rice Rd. reported hearing gunfire.

No one is in custody at this time in connection with the shooting.
