TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) --- The Topeka Police Dept. has confirmed the woman who was shot outside her southwest Topeka home Saturday was pregnant and the unborn child has died as a result of the shooting.
Earlier in the day, police told 13 NEWS the woman, Keishona Wilkins remains in critical, but stable, condition.
Police are now treating the shooting as a homicide.
Investigators say Wilkins walked out of her house, in the 3600 block of SW Skyline Pkwy., around 10:30 p.m. and was shot several times.
Detectives have developed "strong leads," police say. They are still investigating the circumstances around the shooting.
The Department added they have no evidence that the public is in any danger.
