The Topeka Police Dept. is urging people to avoid the area near SW 15th and Tyler Streets after a midday incident left one woman dead.

TPD officers as well as members of the Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office are still at the scene. A tactical team has surrounded a home near the intersection and have closed Tyler St. They believe a person of interest is still inside.

Officers first responded just after noon Sunday to a report that someone had suffered and "unknown trouble" in the area where they found the victim's body, TPD said.

Investigators have not released her name at this time. They say her body is still inside the house.

TPD did not provide any other information about her death and no information about her death has been released.
