TPD arrests carjacking suspect

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka police have made an arrest in Wednesday's carjacking at a central Topeka Kwik Shop.

Samantha Stephens, 28, was booked for aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery.

Authorities also released a surveillance picture of a male who was a person of interest.

After interviewing him - authorities determined he was not related to the case.

He was booked into the Shawnee County Corrections for multiple felony warrants associated with a separate investigation.

According to Topeka police Stephens got into a vehicle parked at the Kwik Shop in the 1700 block of southwest Topeka Blvd. early Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the vehicle had a passenger inside.

TPD says a male suspect forced the passenger out of the vehicle and the man and woman fled the scene in the vehicle.

The car was located a short time later - unoccupied at northwest Jackson and Crane.
