Suspect in May shooting arrested

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) --- The Topeka Police Dept. arrested the 36-year-old woman suspected in a May shooting at a southeast Topeka home.

Jessica Joann Spencer was arrested late Wednesday afternoon after being spotted in the same block, the 1500 block of SE 23rd St., where the shooting occurred, TPD says. The 36-year-old Spencer was booked on counts of Aggravated Battery and Aggravated Assault.

Investigators still have not released the name of the victim.

They say officers were responding to reports of a disturbance at the home on the evening of May 16 when they reports of gunfire came in.
When police arrived they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
