Shawnee Co. District Attorney Mike Kagay announced he has formally charged Larry D Huggins III, 19, with murder.

Huggins was arrested last week and booked into the Shawnee County jail. Charges from Kagay include 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Aggravated Burglary.

Kagay said he has only charged Huggins with the death of Owen Hughes, 15.

Both Hughes and Reginald McKinney, 21, were shot just after 3 p.m. Nov. 12 in the 2400 block of SE Maryland. Kagay said Hughes was found inside the home, while McKinney was found outside in the yard.

Huggins showed up at the hospital about three hours later with a gunshot wound.

Kagay would not say who shot Huggins or McKinney.

"Given the specific facts of this case, which will become public at the time of the preliminary hearing, we have charged Huggins with the crimes that we believe are supported by the evidence," Kagay told 13 NEWS.

Huggins remains jailed on a $1 million bond. He has his next court appearance scheduled for Wednesday.

Police say they are still investigating. Anyone with information to call Shawnee Co. Crime Stoppers, 785-234-0007.
