TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Some local fire fighters are putting on a different type of uniform this week to help kids understand the importance of fire safety.

This is the third year the Shawnee Heights Fire District is traveling to all elementary schools in their district to perform fire prevention week safety skits.

On Monday, they were at Berryton and Tecumseh North. Tuesday they visited Tecumseh South.
Thursday they will be at Shawnee Heights, Pauline South, and Pauline Central.

Fire fighters traded in their traditional suits for costumes like The Flash, Wonder Woman and the Incredible Hulk.

They hope the outfits and skit make their message more relatable to children.
