LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) — Topping today's list of things you already knew: Lawrence is one of the best college basketball towns in America!

A Wallethub study, released today, puts the home of the Jayhawks among the elites when in comes to college hoops. It trails only the North Carolina Tar Heels' hometown, Chapel Hill, and tops much larger cities, like Los Angeles or Philadelphia, and other towns synonymous with NCAA basketball, like Durham, NC, (Duke) or Bloomington, Indiana (Hoosiers).

And, what's one of the most important parts of a great basketball town? The fans, of course. KU fans tied for the top spot in Most Engaged College Basketball Fans.

There's apparently a price to be paid for all that excitement, though, as Allen Fieldhouse ties for the priciest ticket among college teams.

The study also points out Shockers fans have had plenty to cheer about in recent years, with Wichita State coming in as the second-best performing teams. Only the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin have had a better stretch recently.

But, while Lawrence may be one of the best cities, you only need to head east for about a half-hour to find one of the worst. Kansas City, Missouri, came in 288th out of 291 cities. At least, KU is only a short drive away.

Manhattan, meanwhile, was way ahead of KCMO, it still slotted in at 194th.
