Strong winds cause damage, power outages in Emporia, surrounding counties

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) - Severe storms passed through Emporia and surrounding areas Saturday morning. According to KVOE, winds reaching almost 90 mph caused a good amount of damage and thunderstorms caused around 55 power outages in the area.

Notable reports of wind damage include a camper being flipped over in Emporia, a garage door blown off of an Olpe home's garage, shingles blown off of the roof of a house in Lyon County, and two power lines taken down in Chase County.

KVOE reports that parts of Coffey and Osage counties are under a flood warning until 4:15 p.m.
