TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- KU Health System's St. Francis Campus plans to take over a Topeka surgical center.
On Tuesday, the hospital announced an agreement to purchase Tallgrass Surgical Center. St. Francis Campus CEO Steve Anderson said the move would offer patients more convenience and better access to care.
“Tallgrass Surgical Center offers all of these and is a first-class surgical facility, staffed by well-trained, high-performing professionals," he explained. "We look forward to welcoming them to our family.”
Officials expect to have regulatory approval and to complete the closing conditions to complete the sale over the next few months.
Tallgrass' surgery center, 6001 SW 6th Ave., houses three operating rooms and a procedure room. Its President Dr. Benedict Figuerres says the acquisition would give its patients "seamless" access to a local hospital.
“We have earned a reputation for surgical excellence and have provided award-winning patient experiences since our founding in 2002," Figuerres said.
