FT. RILEY, Kan. (WIBW) A Maryland-based solar contractor is facing nearly $40,000 in fines for the death of one of their employees at Ft. Riley.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced they have cited Power Factor LLC $39,836 for the fatal electrocution of one of their workers.

OSHA says the employee died July 24, 2018, while installing solar panels on a building at 4910-2 Watie St.

In their findings, the agency says the employee was hoisting a metal rail that came into contact with overhead power lines.

OSHA said Power Factor, LLC. allowed employees to work in close proximity to live and uninsulated power circuits, for failing to maintain a safety program to conduct regular inspection of the job site, and train workers to recognize and avoid hazards.

Power Factor, LLC. has 15 days to pay the fine or contest the findings.

The victim's name is not being released.
