Shots fired during car chase Wednesday morning

SHAWNEE CO., Kan. (WIBW) Two juveniles are being questioned after officials say shots were fired in a car chase between the two early Wednesday morning.

Just before 1 a.m., the Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office says they received a call from a motorist who reported they were being chased and shot at by a white car.

Authorities say the incident started at SE 29th and SE Westedge Road. The caller told officials that they drove to SE 29th and California, where the suspect fired shots at them.

The driver said the suspect followed them east into Lawrence, firing several more shots along the way.

The Douglas Co. Sheriff and Lawrence Police were able to get the vehicles stopped at SE 6th and K-10 Highway.

Officials say a gun was recovered from the white car and bullet holes were found in the back of the caller's car.

No injuries were reported.

Both subjects, who are minors, were taken to the Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office for questioning. Their names are not being released.
