TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - You can get furniture, clothes and other items at a discount this weekend and help a church in the process!
The University United Methodist Church, 1621 SW College Ave., is holding their annual spring thrift sale Friday and Saturday. It's the 54th year the church has held the sale and the money raised goes towards the church's mission trips.
All the items are donated and the church says the sale is about giving others a boost.
"It's just something I feel is our obligation to do, to make sure people have an obligation to purchase things that are much more within their ability to financially afford," said Diana Whitney, the sale's co-chair. "Much of the stuff here is clean, it's lightly used, it's gently used stuff that anybody could want back in their homes."
The sale goes until 2:30 p.m. Friday and is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
