TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A late morning traffic stop on I-70 in Shawnee Co. led to the discovery of tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of marijuana and the arrest of a 55-year-old, Ohio man, the Shawnee Co. Sheriff’s Office says.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Robert A. Love was heading east on Kansas Turnpike shortly after 11 a.m. Friday and was about a mile east of the Topeka toll plaza when a deputy stopped him for a traffic violation.

Investigators say a search of the rented 2019 Cadillac CT5 turned up more than 13 lbs. of marijuana, 360 10mg marijuana edibles, and a half-pound of concentrated wax marijuana.

The Sheriff’s Office estimated all of that was worth approximately $47,000.

Love was booked into the Shawnee Co. Dept. of Corrections on counts of felony possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The incident remains under investigation.
