Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office lifts phase III accident reporting

SHAWNEE CO., Kan. (WIBW) - The Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office has ended its phase III accident procedures as of 10 a.m. Sunday.

Phase III accident reporting was implemented Friday evening due to inclement weather.

During phase III, officers will only respond to wrecks in which someone is hurt, a vehicle is disabled, it is a hit-and-run, or if it is alcohol-related.

Now that it has been lifted, the Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office says to come to the sheriff's office or call in if you have had a reportable accident while phase III was in effect, and an available officer will be sent to your location.

The sheriff's office warns to drive carefully, as roads are still icy and slick.
