Shawnee Co. commissioners extend Coroner's term

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Shawnee County commissioners have approved the new contract with Dr. Ransom Ellis this morning.

His contract with Forensic Medical Holdings of Kansas to provide autopsy services and coroner services to the county is set with for 587,800 this year with a two and a half percent increase each year until 2024.

"Forensic Medical has really done a nice job stabilizing the office, working with us to address our concerns. I believe that our concerns have been met," said Ellis.

The contract was extended until January 7th, 2024.
