TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Since late October, Sharp Honda has been open at their new location on 32nd and S Kansas Avenue.
"The service department was a definite weakness for us and now there is nothing else that we could do,” General Manager Steve Matukewicz said. “There's nobody in Topeka, let alone Kansas City, that has a service department like this.”
The service department fits up to nine cars at a time, up from the two they could house at the prior location across the street from the Expocentre.
"You can sell somebody a car once,” Matukewicz said. “But your service department will sell five cars for you, if you take good care of the people, give them good value, you do it right the first time and you bring the car back to them better than when they brought it to you."
Jeff Musselman has been a service technician with Sharp for nearly 30 years and says the improvements will increase their efficiency.
"First off, the size. There is much more traffic flow. A lot more room, a lot more stalls,” Musselman said. “The technology is top notch, between the quick lifts and the alignment machines [and] the tire machines."
Matukewicz says that efficiency translates into keeping lifelong customers.
The old building in front of the Expocentre was sold to a new owner but will continue as a car lot.
