Semi driver trapped under vehicle in overnight U.S. 24 crash

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A 70-year-old semi driver was trapped under his tractor-trailer after it overturned a Pottawatomie Co. highway overnight.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Dwight Hartung was heading west on U.S. 24 shortly after midnight Wednesday. He was just past Mills Road when his semi went off the right side of the road and toppled.

The Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, man ended up stuck under the vehicle and had to be pulled free by firefighters, the crash report indicated.

Hartaug reportedly suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital for treatment.
