Sedgwick County Deputy killed in officer-involved shooting

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) - The Harper Police Department says a Sedgwick County deputy has died following an officer-involved shooting Sunday afternoon.

Police say the deputy was was responding to a suspicious character call.

The second officer on the scene found both the deputy and the suspect down and unresponsive and both suffering from gunshot wounds.

The suspect is also dead.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer-involved Sunday afternoon.

The shooting happened near the intersection of 295th street west and 21st street north.

The Bel Aire Police Department says they are sending prayers for their friend at the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office who was shot in the line of duty.
