Second person arrested in connection to stolen car ring

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The second person wanted in connection to a stolen car ring is now behind bars.

The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office says 22-year-old Cody Brown was arrested after a short foot pursuit near Southeast 5th and Lafayette around 2:30 yesterday afternoon.

Official say while Brown was running from deputies, he tossed a firearm.

The gun was recovered.

He faces charges including Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Burglary to a Vehicle, Felony Theft, and Criminal Damage to Property.

According to the Kansas Department of Corrections, Brown has served time for prior convictions for car theft, aggravated burglary, theft and drug possession.

21-year-old Rachel Ratzloff was arrested January 10th, however, authorities are still searching for 23-year-old Cheyenne Thomas.

Officials say the three are involved in a stolen car ring that was uncovered late last week in the 600 block of Lime and Topeka.
