TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) — The inmate convicted of trying to kill a Shawnee Co. Corrections Officer last April was sentenced Wednesday to over 25 more years in prison.

According to the Shawnee Co. District Attorney's Office, Allen Schroeder was sentenced to 247 months in prison for attempted 2nd degree murder and an additional 55 months for a conspiracy charge stemming from the April 2017 attack. Those sentences will be served consecutively.

At the time of the attack, Schroeder was being held on an unrelated charge of attempted aggravated battery, which resulted in a conviction and 16-month sentence. His new sentence will not begin until this one ends, the District Attorney's Office added.

Authorities said Schroeder stabbed Ofc. Lacy Noll with a makeshift weapon, which was described as a straightened door handle in the criminal complaint. Noll has since recovered.
