COFFEY CO., Kan. (WIBW) A group of veterans is heading back to Kansas after a trip to Washington D.C. they'll never forget.

The 24 veterans and their student escorts took off for the nation's capital early Thursday morning. The group was made up of mostly Coffey County residents.

Honor Flights take veterans to Washington so they can see the memorial of the war in which they fought.

The trip is hosted by Southern Coffey County High School. It's their 16th Honor Flight in the past 12 years.

The students and communities of LeRoy and Gridley raised the money to pay the veterans' way.
