TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- After more than a dozen vehicle had their windows shot out in just the last day, Shawnee Co. Crime Stoppers is upping its reward for information that leads to the arrest of whomever is behind the recent spate of criminal damage cases, the Topeka Police Dept. announced Thursday.
According to TPD, officers have responded to 14 cases in the last 24 hours. The Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to 22 more in the same time.
On Monday, 13 NEWS reported on a similar string of windows being damaged in the Montara neighborhood. At the time, the Shawnee Co. Sheriff’s Office said they were likely shot out with a BB gun.
Police have stepped up enforcement in places where it’s happening and are dedicating officers to finding the perpetrators, TPD says. They are asking the public: If you see something, say something.
Anyone who has had their windows shot out and have not contacted police is asked to do so.
