For the last 28 years, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies has recognized the Riley County Police Department for holding itself to the highest standards in law enforcement.

Starting Monday, December 9th on-site assessments will begin with examinations of all aspects of the department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services making sure they are meeting or exceeding the standards expected.

The assessors will come from outside of the state of Kansas from other accredited departments.

Along with the on-site assessments, there will be a public information session, for members of the public to comment on R-C-P-D’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation.

“These are a set of standards that we have voluntarily agreed to abide by, but it’s important to verify that these things are happening.” Riley County Police Department, director, Dennis Butler says.

The public information session will be held at the Manhattan Fire Department Headquarters on Wednesday December 11th at 6:30pm.
