RCPD: Teen shooting was likely accidental

RILEY, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Riley Co. Police Dept. is investigating after a teenager was reportedly shot west of Riley.

According to police, officers responded around 4:15 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 7500 block of Crooked Creek Road. There, they found a 16-year-old girl who had suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Investigators are saying they believe the shooting was accidental. They do not believe there is any risk to the public.

The shooting spurred a lockdown for all after-school activities at Riley Co. Grade School inside of town.
