RCPD: 82-year-old Manhattan man hit by car while crossing the street

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- An 82-year-old Manhattan man was injured Tuesday morning when he was struck by a car on Bluemont Ave., the Riley Co. Police Dept. said.

According to police, Lee Hildebrecht was crossing the street at the N. Juliette Ave. intersection, near Bluemont Elementary School around 8:45 a.m. when the 2004 SAAB hit him.

He was taken to Via Christi hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car, 21-year-old John Wendt, of Manhattan was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, an RCPD spokesperson said.
