TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Topeka Police Dept. is asking for the public's help tracking down the suspects who stole several lawn mowers from Topeka Public Schools.

Police say the suspects broke into the USD 501 Service Center, 125 SW 27th Street, near 27th and Kansas, early Sunday morning. They were driving a white Ford Explorer at the time.

The suspects reportedly stole four yellow Hustler zero turn industrial mowers, a pair of Cub Cadet self-propelled mowers, as well as a Gravely walk-behind mowers and numerous hand tools, USD 501 Police Officer Kelly Roberts said.

Roberts estimated the loss of all of that equipment would be around $25,000 or more, however he said that's because the machines were used. Replacing them would cost much more.

According to Holton Farm and Home, a brand-new Hustler zero turn industrial mower would cost between $13,000 and $15,000, depending on the options.
