One man dead in SE Topeka stabbing, person of interest arrested and booked
One man is dead after a stabbing in Topeka late Sunday.
According to the Topeka Police Dept., officers were called just after 8 p.m. Sunday to 1213 SE 33rd St. on the report of a stabbing.
When they arrived, they found Raymond Lee Smith, 41, of Topeka suffering from life-threatening injuries. Smith was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators identified Andrew Timothy Evans, 40 of Topeka, as a person of interest in the case. Evans was last seen leaving the area on foot.
On Monday, police said
and he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Shawnee Co. Dept. of Corrections for 1st degree murder.
